Equity benchmarks ended in red on Friday, weighed by profit-booking in market heavyweight Reliance Industries amid weak global cues.
Reliance Industries was the top loser on the Sensex chart in Friday''s session, shedding 1.98 per cent, as investors began booking profits at higher levels.
The company on Thursday reported a record net profit of Rs 13,248 crore for the June quarter after a one-time gain from stake sale as well as bumper telecom revenues cushioned COVID-19 hit earnings from refining, petchem and retail segments.
HDFC Bank, HDFC, Asian Paints, Kotak Bank, Bajaj Auto and UltraTech Cement were among the other laggards.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 37606.89 down by -129.18 points or by -0.34 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11073.45 down by -28.7 points or by -0.26 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 37897.78 and intraday low of 37431.68 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11150.4 and intraday low of 11026.65
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 531.75,+4.27%), State Bank of India (Rs. 191.45,+2.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 611.00,+2.20%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 705.20,+1.45%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 431.60,+1.36%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2066.95,-1.98%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1032.65,-1.69%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1782.85,-1.55%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1716.65,-1.52%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1367.00,-1.52%), among others.
