The benchmark indices Sensex and the Nifty50 climbed higher in the final ninety minutes of the session to eventually end on a firm note. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index gained 0.30 per cent, while the BSE SmallCap eked out gains of 0.06 per cent.
Overseas, Asian markets closed on a mixed note on Tuesday amidst anxiety ahead of crucial macro-economic updates. Hang Seng closed deep in the red ahead of PMI updates from China. The Japanese benchmark Nikkei 225 slipped 39 points or 0.12 percent to end trading at 33,408.39.
Whereas Inflation worries dominated sentiment on Monday in the European bourses as well, ahead of release of latest macro-economic updates from the region and other major economies. Current indications from the European stock futures indicate a weak sentiment.
Meanwhile, Crude Oil prices fell on Monday with traders trying to speculate the likely outcome of the upcoming meeting of OPEC+, scheduled to take place on Thursday (November 30).
On the corporate front, Newgen Software Technologies Limited hit the 5% upper circuit after the company announced that its board has approved the proposal to issue bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1. SAIL gained 2%. The state-run steel producer seeks to increase the provisional price of rails to the Indian Railways, citing higher costs.
The 30-share benchmark index closed trading at 66174.2 up by 204.16 points or by 0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 19889.7 up by 95 points or by 0.48 %.
During the day’s trade, Sensex touched intraday high of 66256.2 and intraday low of 65906.65 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 19916.85 and intraday low of 19800.
