Domestic markets opened on a positive note in Wednesday's trade, amid mixed global cues.

Sectorally, Nifty Bank, and Nifty Auto indices led the charge as they gained up to 0.7 per cent, while Nifty Realty, and Nifty PSU Bank indices were bogged down in trade.

Among individual stocks, shares of Jindal Stainless surged over 2 per cent after the stainless steel firm signed an agreement with New Yaking Pte to set up a nickel pig iron smelter in Indonesia.

At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 57801.4 up by 187.68 points or by 0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17004.3 up by 52.6 points or by 0.31 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 57832.4 and intraday low of 57569.36 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17023.2 and intraday low of 16976.65

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2517.00,+1.41%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1141.05,+1.15%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 5597.00,+1.13%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 7488.75,+1.11%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1236.15,+1.06%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1026.45,-0.92%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2231.15,-0.75%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 102.10,-0.39%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1376.25,-0.08%), among others.

FMCG index was at 16267.39 up by 127.31 points or by 0.79%. Chaman Lal Setia Exports Ltd. (Rs. 171.55,+5.31%), Dhampur Bio Organics Ltd. (Rs. 124.20,+4.72%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2956 , shares advanced were 1959 while 884 shares declined and 113 were unchanged.
