After seeing a relief run in the previous session, the Indian equity market again came under pressure on March 2 with the Nifty ending near 17,300 amid selling seen in the information technology, auto, FMCG and financial names.
Among the Group stocks, shares of the flagship firm Adani Enterprises ended over 2.5 per cent higher, having gained as much as 17 per cent in intra-day deals. Adani Power, Adani Green, Adani Transmission, Adani Wilmar and NDTV were locked at the 5 per cent upper limit. ACC, Ambuja Cements, Adani Ports and Adani Total Gas added 2 - 4 per cent each.
Meanwhile, among the Sensex 30 shares, Maruti and Axis Bank slipped around 2.5 per cent each. With Axis Bank completing the Citibank India business merger, analysts Axis Bank to see merger synergies playing out only by the second half of financial year 2024-25 (H2FY25).
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 58909.35 down by -501.73 points or by -0.84 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17321.9 down by -129 points or by -0.74 %.
