Pre-Session: Markets likely to open in green; Asian indices rise

Trends in the SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India with a gain of 84 points in step with surge in Wall Street on ebbing fears of banking crisis contagion and rise in Asian peer markets.



Among individual stocks, shares of Bharti Airtel will remain in focus after the telecom operator rolled out various family plans offering monthly data in the range of 105-320 GB.



Besides, shares of Carborundum Universal will also be tracked after the company signed an agreement with DRDO to manufacture ceramic radomes used in aerospace and missile systems.



On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 57628.95 down by -360.95 points or by -0.62 % and then NSE Nifty was at 16988.4 down by -111.65 points or by -0.65 %.



On the global front, Today, the US Federal Reserve will begin its two-day Federal Open Market Committee meeting (FOMC) to mull interest rate trajectory and policy outlook.

Overnight, the US markets saw a relief rally after the government brokered a rescue deal for crisis-hit Credit Suisse. Dow Jones, NASDAQ Composite, and the S&P 500 indices climbed up to 1 per cent.



The strength spilled across markets in Asia-Pacific too, with the S&P 200, Kospi, Kosdaq, and Hang Seng indices rising up to 1 per cent.



Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Tata Steel Ltd. 41569640.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 14838651.00, State Bank of India 14275315.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 13251557.00, Axis Bank Ltd. 10744023.00,



On NSE, total number of shares traded was 22.46 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 47074.51 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 527910 with a total turnover of Rs. 48043.66 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 832124 with a total turnover of Rs. 53139.46 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 197137434 with a total turnover of Rs. 17028977.50 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 3692190 with a total turnover of Rs. 242535.34 Crore.



The FIIs on 20/03/2023 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 18823.33 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 885.73 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 20522.02 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 174.79 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -1698.69 Crore and Rs. 710.94
