The Indian equity benchmark ended with minor gains to break a five-day losing streak in yet another volatile session on March 16.
After a flat start, the market gyrated between gains and losses but managed to close in the green amid buying in power, oil & gas, FMCG, realty and pharma names.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 57634.84 up by 78.94 points or by 0.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 16985.6 up by 13.45 points or by 0.08 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 57887.46 and intraday low of 57158.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17062.45 and intraday low of 16850.15
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 18460.00,+2.54%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2894.95,+2.32%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2459.85,+2.23%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 2451.00,+2.21%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 967.30,+1.66%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 105.05,-3.31%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1020.15,-2.31%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 749.00,-0.98%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1406.20,-0.93%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 372.85,-0.81%), among others.
