Sensex marginally down, Nifty atop 17,700; IndusInd Bank up 4%

Indian benchmark indices recouped most of the losses during the late noon trading session amid selective buying.

Among individual stocks, shares of Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) surged up to 3 per cent after the Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth of Rs 9,900 crore with these companies for procurement of 70 HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft & three cadet training ships respectively.

At 14:38 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 60167.58 down by -56.88 points or by -0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17714.25 up by 2.8 points or by 0.02 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 60227.84 and intraday low of 59844.82 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17718 and intraday low of 17602.25

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1169.60,+4.32%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 2163.00,+1.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1280.50,+0.84%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 178.25,+0.79%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 7247.10,+0.64%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 5997.70,-2.26%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 952.35,-1.36%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1487.10,-1.36%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1079.00,-1.06%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 2383.50,-0.86%), among others.

Power index was at 3523.83 up by 49.21 points or by 1.42%. Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 619.60,+5.00%), Adani Transmission Ltd. (Rs. 819.90,+4.99%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 186.75,+4.97%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 41.22,+3.15%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3280.40,+1.85%),.

CDS index was at 37782.89 down by -330.22 points or by -0.87%. Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 307.30,-2.58%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2915.05,-2.41%), Amber Enterprises India Ltd. (Rs. 1996.50,-1.58%), Rajesh Exports Ltd. (Rs. 617.15,-1.06%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (Rs. 234.35,-0.93%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3802 , shares advanced were 1898 while 1749 shares declined and 155 were unchanged.
