Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed with modest gains on Tuesday in a range-bound trading session, supported by buying in heavyweights Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank.
Despite fluctuating throughout the day amid mixed global cues and cautious investor sentiment, the indices managed to finish in the green. Gains in energy, banking, and select FMCG stocks helped offset weakness in IT and metal counters.
Investors also remained watchful ahead of key economic data and global developments.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83697.29 up by 90.83 points or by 0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25541.8 up by 24.75 points or by 0.1 %.
