Post-Session: Markets end lower after four-day rally as Investors book profits

Snapping a four-day winning streak, Indian equity benchmarks closed in the red on Monday as investors opted to book profits in the absence of fresh domestic cues.

The lack of new triggers prompted cautious sentiment, with traders locking in gains from the recent rally. Broader market indices also saw some pressure, while sectoral performance remained mixed. Analysts expect market direction in the coming sessions to be guided by global cues, institutional flows, and upcoming macroeconomic data.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83606.46 down by -452.44 points or by -0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25517.05 down by -120.75 points or by -0.47 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 84099.53 and intraday low of 83482.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25669.35 and intraday low of 25473.3

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 820.35,+1.86%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 871.80,+1.64%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 264.05,+0.72%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1450.20,+0.70%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3685.70,+0.56%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1199.40,-2.11%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2163.10,-2.03%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12398.95,-1.95%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12072.35,-1.33%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 936.20,-1.09%), among others.

CGS index was at 72332.77 up by 783.99 points or by 1.1%. SKF India Ltd. (Rs. 4812.90,+4.26%), Timken India Ltd. (Rs. 3493.45,+4.17%), Kaynes Technology India Ltd. (Rs. 6098.35,+4.01%), Schaeffler India Ltd. (Rs. 4048.15,+3.84%), Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1944.60,+2.81%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4512 , shares advanced were 2474 while 1838 shares declined and 200 were unchanged.
