Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened lower today amid concerns over US President Donald Trump's fresh tariffs on steel imports.
That apart, rising Covid-19 cases in the country, selling by FIIs, rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and nervousness ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's) monetary policy outcome weighed on the sentiment on Monday.
At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80684.01 down by -767 points or by -0.94 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24549.75 down by -200.95 points or by -0.81 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 81285.85 and intraday low of 80654.26 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24717.55 and intraday low of 24538.45
