Pre-Session: Gap-up start likely for Indian mkts; RIL, Maruti Suzuki Q4 eyed

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a strong note on April 25, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,535 earlier this morning.

On April 24, the indices ended their seven-day winning streak with modest losses, as the Nifty 50 slipped below the 24,300 mark due to broad-based selling, except in the metal and pharma sectors.

Multiple factors are poised to influence market sentiment today, including India's potential response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, ongoing trade deal discussions with the US amid tariff threats, and global market movements. Investors will also closely watch foreign institutional investor (FII) activity and quarterly earnings announcements from major companies like Reliance Industries and Maruti Suzuki.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 79801.43 down by -315.06 points or by -0.39 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24246.7 down by -82.25 points or by -0.34 %.

On the global front, Asian shares rose at the open Friday after optimism about the Federal Reserve cutting rates sooner than anticipated powered a rally in US stocks and Alphabet Inc. reported solid earnings.

US stocks closed higher on Thursday, rallying for a third straight day with a solid boost from technology shares as investors parsed a mixed bag of corporate earnings and watched for signs of progress in the U.S.-China tariff stand-off.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 486.83 points, or 1.23%, to 40,093.40, the S&P 500 gained 108.91 points, or 2.03%, to 5,484.77 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 457.99 points, or 2.74%, to 17,166.04.
