Tata Steel on Friday disclosed that it has received a demand notice of Rs 1,902 crore from the Deputy Director of Mines, Jajpur, over an alleged shortfall in mineral dispatches from its Sukinda Chromite Block in Odisha.
In a regulatory filing, the company stated that it intends to explore appropriate legal options through judicial or quasi-judicial channels.
"The demand letter was issued in connection with the revised assessment of the shortfall in mineral dispatch from the Sukinda Chromite Block for the fourth year of the Mine Development and Production Agreement, covering the period from July 23, 2023, to July 22, 2024," Tata Steel said.
