Sigachi Industries Ltd has issued an update regarding the recent fire incident at its Pashamylaram facility in Telangana, expressing gratitude to the Telangana State Government, emergency responders, and employees who have actively supported various aspects of the crisis response.
Of the 33 injured team members, 12 have been discharged and each has received ?1 lakh as interim relief. The company reiterated its commitment, previously stated on July 2, to providing comprehensive medical and rehabilitation support to all affected employees.
Sigachi also clarified the number of casualties, confirming that 39 team members lost their lives in the incident, revising the earlier count of 40. Company representatives continue to remain present at hospitals around the clock, offering emotional and logistical support to the families of those impacted.
An investigation is currently underway, led by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, to examine the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident. Preliminary findings are expected within seven days. Until then, the company has chosen not to speculate on the cause.
However, Sigachi reaffirmed its earlier statement that the incident was not the result of a reactor explosion.
