Cosmo First, a global leader in films for packaging, lamination, labelling, and synthetic paper, has successfully commissioned a new BOPP (Biaxially Oriented PolyPropylene) film manufacturing line at its existing facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The project, backed by a capital expenditure of over ?400 crore, features the world’s most advanced technology in BOPP production.
The newly added line has an annual rated capacity of 81,200 metric tonnes, boosting the company’s total BOPP film capacity by approximately 40% to 2,77,000 metric tonnes.
Cosmo First has witnessed consistent growth in its specialty film segment, recording a CAGR of 10% over the past six years. The new BOPP line will further enhance the company’s ability to diversify and scale its specialty films and packaging portfolio, with several new product launches anticipated in the upcoming quarters.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Pankaj Poddar, Group CEO, Cosmo First, stated, “We anticipate quick ramp-up of the new line given the current favourable demand-supply gap in the domestic market. Additionally, this line qualifies for state government incentives and is the most cost-efficient BOPP film line in India. Our strategic focus will be on maximizing returns from this investment and accelerating growth in the specialty films segment.”
This expansion underscores Cosmo First’s commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and strengthening its leadership in the global packaging and specialty films industry.
