India’s domestic air travel demand continued its upward trajectory in April 2025, with airlines carrying 143.16 lakh passengers—a year-on-year increase of 8.45%, according to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
IndiGo maintained its dominant position in the domestic market with a 64.1% share, followed by the Air India Group at 27.2%, Akasa Air at 5%, and SpiceJet at 2.6%.
The DGCA report also noted that between January and April 2025, domestic airlines transported 575.13 lakh passengers, up from 523.46 lakh during the same period last year, reflecting an annual growth rate of 9.87%.
