CGHS Rolls Out Next-Gen Digital Health Platform to Modernize Beneficiary Services

In a significant step towards digital healthcare modernization, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is set to launch a next-generation Health Management Information System (HMIS) on 28th April 2025. Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), this advanced platform replaces the legacy software in use since 2005, addressing current technological, cybersecurity, and user experience demands.

The new CGHS Digital Platform aims to streamline services, improve transparency, and boost operational efficiency. To facilitate a smooth transition, all CGHS services, including operations at Wellness Centres, will be temporarily suspended on 26th April 2025 (Saturday) to allow for system migration and final validation.

Key Enhancements in the Revamped HMIS:

PAN-Based Unique Beneficiary Identification: Each beneficiary will now be linked to a PAN-based ID, eliminating duplicate records and easing entitlement verification.

Seamless Contribution Verification: Payments will be automatically validated through direct integration with Bharat Kosh, removing manual data entry and reducing errors and refund issues.

Pre-Payment Application Review: Beneficiary card applications will be reviewed for eligibility before payment, ensuring applicants receive accurate contribution guidance.

End-to-End Online Services: Services such as card transfers, dependent status updates, and category changes (e.g., from serving employee to pensioner) can now be processed entirely online.

Real-Time Alerts: SMS and email notifications will keep users updated on each step of their application process, reducing the need for physical follow-ups.

Cybersecurity Measures: Mandatory password resets upon first login and compliance with MeitY security advisories will strengthen digital safety.

Accurate Department Mapping: Departmental identity will be verified using DDO and PAO codes from employee salary slips for precise backend processing.

Updated Mobile Apps: The CGHS mobile applications for Android and iOS have been relaunched, now offering digital card access, application tracking, appointment booking, and e-referral capabilities.

Transition to New Website and Platform

Starting 28th April 2025, the older websites—www.cghs.gov.in and www.cghs.nic.in—will be retired. All services and information will be available exclusively at the new portal: www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in. Beneficiaries are advised to use this new portal for all online services, including registration, grievance redressal, and application management.

All historical data, including medical and pharmacy records, are being securely migrated to the new platform, adhering strictly to government data protection guidelines. Departments will also be gradually onboarded for paperless processing, although physical application submissions will continue temporarily.

Advisories for Beneficiaries and Departments:

From 28th April, contributions must be made only through the new CGHS portal. The payment option via Bharat Kosh will be discontinued.

Ongoing applications that remain unpaid by 27th April 2025 will be considered void. A new application will need to be submitted through the updated portal.

Beneficiaries aged 18 and above are encouraged to link their PAN card with their CGHS ID and rectify any discrepancies through the new login system.

Support materials, including user manuals and Helpdesk services, are accessible via the CGHS website and mobile app. Additional support will be available through CGHS Card Sections and AD Offices.

This digital transformation reaffirms CGHS’s commitment to delivering citizen-centric healthcare services through innovation, efficiency, and enhanced user experience.
