Gold prices soared on Monday, rising by Rs 1,493 and crossing the key Rs 96,000 per 10 grams threshold, fueled by strong global demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), June gold futures continued their impressive upward momentum for the third consecutive session, jumping Rs 1,493 or 1.57% to hit a new all-time high of Rs 96,747 per 10 grams during early trade.
The metal later eased slightly from its peak, trading up by Rs 1,346 or 1.41% at Rs 96,600 per 10 grams, with an open interest of 21,540 lots.
