Tata Power has received approval from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to set up a 100-MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Mumbai.
According to a stock exchange filing, the project will be implemented over the next two years across 10 key locations in the city.
The BESS will feature advanced black start capabilities, allowing for rapid restoration of power to critical infrastructure such as the metro, hospitals, airport, and data centers during grid outages or disturbances.
